Come to class on time
and be prepared.
This means bringing your book, notebook, a scientific calculator,
completed homework assignment, and pencil. Please do the assigned
reading from your textbook. Reading mathematics is not easy but
it is a very important skill to acquire before you enter college.
Be an active participant
in class. Learning mathematics is not a spectator sport.
It is extremely helpful to ask questions when concepts or procedures
arent clear to you. (If you are having a difficult time understanding
something, more than likely others are having a hard time as well.)
If you are absent
from class, you are responsible for the work that you
miss. Follow your assignment sheet, read the book, and get notes
from a classmate. An assignment sheet, worksheets, and other classroom
handouts are available on the Materials
page. If you are absent on the day of a quiz or test, be
prepared to take the quiz or test on the day you return.
Homework
(problem sets from the book) will
be checked each day in class. These assignments
from the book will not be accepted late unless you were absent
the day before.
Worksheets turned in late will be accepted
but a penalty of 20% per day
will be deducted from your grade on the assignment.
Worksheets turned in to me (on my desk in Room 111) by 2:45 p.m.
on the due date will be considered on time. All work from
a chapter must be turned in on the day of the chapter test in
order to receive any credit on the assignment.
Math help is available
before, during, and after school. A math teacher is available
during study halls and activity times. There is help available
from 7:15-7:30 a.m. in Room 109 and from 2:30-3:30 p.m. in Room
101. In addition, I am here from 7:15 a.m. until 3:15 p.m. on
most days and am more than willing to help you.
The formula for success
is simple: attend class daily, put forth your very best
effort on every task, and seek help when its needed. A positive
attitude is an asset.
You are not alone. We are on this journey
together. Please do not hesitate to discuss your particular circumstances
with me should the need arise.
