Supplies:   Textbook, folder, notebook, blue or black pen, and scientific calculator

  

Textbook Policy:   The student is issued a numbered textbook at the beginning of the school year. Each student is responsible to return the same numbered book without damage at the end of the school year. Failure to return the textbook that was issued, or returning a damaged book will result in a replacement fee.

Attendance:   Students are expected to attend class every day and arrive on time. Each student is responsible to find out any work that has been missed, to make up the work, and to get the class notes and worksheets. Assignments are posted in the room and on the website for the entire week. In the event that an experiment is missed, a time to make up the experiment must be set up with the instructor the first day the student returns. The lab experiment MUST BE MADE UP WITHIN A WEEK FROM THE STUDENT'S RETURN OR IT WILL BECOME A ZERO!

Absences of more than one day require the student to see the instructor to negotiate due dates. Failure to talk with the instructor means that regardless of how long a student was absent, or for whatever reason, all work is due the second day you return.

IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO OBTAIN MISSING WORK OR SCHEDULE TIME TO MAKE UP AN EXPERIMENT!!

 

Classwork / Homework:   Classwork or homework is assigned on a regular basis. All work, such as a reading assignment or problems, will be due the next day, unless otherwise specified. Work will be checked periodically for points. Work one day late will be worth half credit (50%) and work two days late will receive a zero.

 

Lab Reports:   Lab reports must be written on loose-leaf paper or typed. ALL INFORMATION obtained during the lab should be written directly into the lab report. It is mandatory to write the title, date, purpose, hypothesis, lab partner, and construct data tables before the experiment is performed. This saves time during the lab experiment. Lab reports are due two days after the experiment is completed. For each day the lab report is late, your grade will be dropped.

In this class you will neither give nor receive unauthorized aid without specific permission for collaboration or without proper citation. This includes class work, lab reports, quizzes, examinations, preparations of reports or projects, or in any other work that is used to evaluate you.  You can expect that any papers or projects you turn in will be checked to assure originality and accuracy of citations. At Cretin-Derham Hall we uniformly deplore cheating, lying, fraud, misrepresentation, plagiarism, copying other students' work, and other dishonest behaviors that jeopardize the rights, welfare and integrity of Cretin-Derham Hall.

Consequences
First Documented Offense : Zero credit for work; Teacher will call parents and the Dean of Students will be notified. The Dean of Students will be responsible for assigning additional consequences.

Second Documented Offense : Academic Board of Discipline will recommend consequences, which may include loss of credit for the class or a recommendation for a Board of Review.
These consequences are not limited to cheating in one class; they are cumulative.

The classroom is a place for the exchange of ideas and information and where learning takes place. To accomplish this, mutual respect and attention are essential. Our classroom will be a safe zone for all students. All school policies are upheld in the classroom at all times, including:

 

-Everyone is expected to be in uniform at all times.

 

-Each member of the classroom is expected to respect and listen when others are speaking.

 

-All rules for laboratory use must be followed to ensure everyone's safety.

 

-Class begins when the bell rings. You are expected to be on time.

Grades are awarded based on student performance and improvement in several areas. Those areas are as follows: tests, quizzes, projects, lab reports, homework/classwork, and class participation. Everything is assigned a point value and overall grade is based on total points.
