St. Mary's Mission/Red Lake Ojibwe Reservation

            The St. Mary’s Mission/Red Lake Ojibwe Reservation Plunge offers students and staff the opportunity to grow in and develop a richer understanding of the Native American people. This experience is not a "mission" trip in the sense of attempting to address a need or correct a problem on the reservation. Rather, it is intended to give participants a hands on, lived experience of and with the Indian people of Red Lake. The true work of the this immersion occurs when the participants return to home and school and are called upon, and expected to share with others their new found knowledge and experience of one group of native people of America.

• Up to twelve students (all grades) and three adults participate on each of the two Red Lake Plunges.
• St. Mary’s Mission is located on the Red Lake Ojibwe Reservation in northern Minnesota (approximately a 5-hour drive from St. Paul).
• Prayer, reflection and conversation around the issues of Native American spirituality, culture, and history are an ongoing part of the preparation for the trip as well as during and after.
