Urban Plunge Immersion/House of Charity

The Urban Plunge experience offers students and staff the opportunity to encounter a social service agency from the inside out. House of Charity in Minneapolis offers the homeless and working poor a roof over their head and a warm, safe setting in which to gather for a meal. Through our work with House of Charity, Cretin-Derham Hall students and staff have the opportunity to grow in a greater understanding and appreciation for the unique and varied life stories of the poor, homeless and marginalized, as well as those whose who seek to be of ministry to them.
  • Up to six students (all grades) and two adults participate in the Urban Plunges.House of Charity in Minneapolis (located near HCMC) is the location of our Plunge. The Plunge begins at 8:30 a.m. and concludes by 2:30 p.m.
  • Prayer, reflection and conversation around the issues of poverty, homelessness, the working poor, and the work of social service agencies such as House of Charity begin and conclude each day.
