Alpine Ski
Cretin-Derham Hall Alpine Ski Team is a co-ed sport.
The team practices at Afton Alps Monday through Thursday after school permitting there is enough snow to practice. Transportation is the responsibility of each individual, and carpooling with team members is highly encouraged. However, bus transportation is provided to and from contests.
The season begins Monday, November 9, 2009. The season is 14 weeks long and the team will compete in 8 - 10 races. Most of the racing occurs in January, due to accumulated snow. When snow is not available, dry land training occurs the first of month of practice at Cretin-Derham Hall. Practice times on Monday-Thursday during dryland training are 3:30 - 5, the team meets by the trophy cases near the Auxiliary Gym. On-snow practice at Afton will be Monday-Thursday 3:30 - 6PM.
Alpine Ski team fees equal the cost of a season pass at Afton Alps for high school athletes. The pass for 2009-2010 is $326.73, including tax.
Novice and experienced Alpine Skiers are encouraged to participate in this sport. Varsity line up consists of 10 racers each for boys and girls during regular season meets, and the remaining racers will compete at the Junior Varsity level.
