Friendship Club Retreat
2008 Retreat Movie
Friendship Club fall retreat will be held on October 10, 2009. The retreat will run from 10:00 AM-6:00 PM. There will be music, activities, a community service project, Mass, and of course, lots of memories. Every year, we pick a different theme for our retreat. This year’s theme is “Lean on Me.” One goal of the retreat is to assure Friendship Club members that we can be the ones on whom they lean. You and a friend will be paired up with a member of the Highland Friendship Club for a day of fun, excitement, and many fond memories.
We all know how important it is to have someone in our lives that we can lean on when we are facing tough times in our lives. This fall, the University of Southern California football team started singing “Lean on Me” at team meetings. Even collegiate athletes sometimes need someone to lean on. Coach Pete Carroll understands this, and brought in songwriter, Bill Withers to sing “Lean on Me” for the football players. It is amazing what a powerful message this song is for everyone.
So if you are looking to get more involved at CDH this year, why not give Friendship Club a try? Participating in the retreat will allow you to meet new people, have fun, and help young people with disabilities all at the same time. Sometimes all they need is somebody to lean on. Going to the fall retreat for Friendship Club will change your outlook on life and I can guarantee that you will have at least as much fun as the person with whom you are paired for the day.
Watch the monitors, listen to the announcements, and check out the CDH Friendship Club page (under Activities) for more details.
