Why should I join?
T here are lots of great reasons - here are just a few:
- It makes you a more well-rounded student, and person in general
- You get to be around amazing people (see the box below...)
- It improves your critical thinking
- Choir is an outlet to be creative, expressive, and emotional
- We're a true team effort - everyone's participation is critical
- Singing is good for your body - don't believe that, click here.

Read more about the benefits of participating in the arts.What are choir members like? They're as diverse a group as any at CDH:
- Some are great singers, and some aren't, and that's OK
- There are young men and women from each grade
- Most
of them are in sports (including basketball, dance team, football,
baseball, softball, hockey, lacrosse, soccer, swimming & diving,
and volleyball)
- Some are in JROTC
- There are choir
members in a variety of activities (speech, math team, robotics, campus
ministry, PRIDE, and student council to name a few)
- Many are involved in other fine arts activities (band, theater, visual arts, etc.)
- Some are very outgoing, others are shyer
- They have a variety of experience in choir from several years to beginners
- All of them have, and make, friends in choir
So how do I join? First, think about whether choir is for you
- Check out some of the reasons to above, and check out what current members say
- Explore this site to learn more about the great (and building) program
- Come to a concert
Next, decide if you can commit
- While a year-long commitment is best for you and for the ensemble, exceptions CAN be made on a case-by-case basis
- The entire year is absolutely required for Pop Singers
Next, see if choir can fit in your schedule
- The
short answer is yes, for the vast, vast majority of people choir can
work into your schedule, though it may take a little creativity for
some of you.

Finally, sign up!
- If
you are an incoming 9th grader return the choir form in your
registration packet on registration day.
- If you are a current CDH student register for choir or talk to Mr. Jacobson
- Mr.
Jacobson will more than likely get in contact with you to answer any
questions you might have and/or to set up a time for you can come in
for a few minutes and see what choir and voice part would be best for
you.
