| I have been teaching at Cretin-Derham Hall since the fall of 1992. Currently, I teach with Jenn Androsky and Tim Teuber in our ninth grade interdisciplinary curriculum, Values Symposium. Our team resides in Room B114. Although I am technically an English teacher, I love all of the material that we cover in Values Symposium, including the technology component of the course. I am thrilled that Values is running our 1-to-1 iPad Pilot Program this year. B114 will get to kick things off. Below are the ten things that I think people need to know about me, as a person and as a teacher. I truly see this occupation as my vocation, and I am deeply passionate about it. The best way to contact me is through email - mmain@c-dh.org. If needed, I can be reached at extension 474. The primary number for Cretin-Derham Hall is (651) 690-2443.
- I am King Dork of All Time.
- I am easily side-tracked and easily excited.
- I have a beautiful wife and a wonderful daughter who I love dearly and talk about all of the time.
- I love Ultimate, but do not get to play much any more - darn aging.
- I am into all things geek (Star Wars, Star Trek, Tolkien, Harry Potter, King Arthur, mythology, poetry, Shakespeare, Ender AND Bean, Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games trilogy) – pretty much, you name it and I likely love it.
- I have almost no tolerance for disrespect, particularly of your peers.
- I have been known to climb on furniture (and fall off of it).
- I have suffered from more than a few annoying, but not life threatening ailments in the last few years, but I now know I have narcolepsy. My sinuses are also chronically inflamed.
- I take many meds to help keep me awake. As a result, I may have some “off” days, or even miss some days.
- At CDH you can find me in B114, teaching ONLY Values, hanging out to talk "dork," and playing with technology and justice!
