PEOPLE FINDING PEOPLE

PFP

This class has been designed for students in 12th grade who have been nominated for the PFP Program.

PFP participants will attend a fall retreat that will introduce peer-listening/helping concepts and theories. The structure of the class will compliment the retreat and continue to provide skill-building opportunities. Students will focus on 19 essential peer-helping skills such as confidentiality, empathy, encouragement, identifying and validating feelings and making referrals. We will also take the knowledge of those skills and practice them together in a variety of simulated situations. The second trimester will be dedicated to turning the practice of these skills into daily peer listening/helping connections. The strength of this class will be found in its creativity and flexibility and the foundation it will provide for the PFP program.
