Beautiful evening for a track and field meet. The Raider squad ran,
threw, and jumped well. Many of the veteran athletes on the team saw
results that were equal to or better than where they started last year,
despite the colder, snowier start. In the weeks to come we will need to
sharpen our focus and determination by working smart and hard.

had beautiful weather to compete hard. We have lots of new faces on the
team this year and they are learning fast. The Short Sprint Medley
(100, 100, 200, 400) team of Molly Strong (12), Bridget Walsh (11),
Megan Linder (9), and Julia Knippel (12) won their event in a time of
1:54.6 and entered the CDH Honor Roll as the third best performance ever
by a CDH team. Then later in the meet the Sprint Medley (200, 200, 400,
800) team of Molly Strong (12), Megan Linder (9), Molly Johnston (9),
and Julia Knippel (12) placed second in their event in a time of 4:29.3
and also entered the CDH Honor Roll as the third best performance ever
by a CDH team. Megan Linder (9) also long jumped 16' 4.25" entering the
all time CDH Freshman and Sophomore Honor Roll at the 4th position and
just 3.75" away from the number 5 all time best long jump of any girl
at CDH. Pole Vaulter Delaney Dobbs tied the school record of 7' 6" with
her performance. Every girl on the team was able to compete, many for
the first time in a high school varsity setting. They all performed
well. We saw some good performances from which we will be able to build.

A cool Spring evening at Stillwater High School did not stop the Raider
boys from giving it their all. The events on the track finished well
before the throws and the pole vault, a rare occurrence. Ethan Owusu
(11) lead the Raider discus event when he rallied to throw 123' 11"
which is a personal best for him by 17'. Max Gardner (11) and Kendrick
Brewster (11) did well in the short sprint events going 1 and 2
respectively for the Raiders in the 100 and tied for first Raider in the
200. New to the Pole Vault, Jack McMahon (10) cleared 9' and made three
close attempts at 10', to lead the Raiders with Bryan Linehan (12). On
the distance side all the 1600m Raiders dropped time from last season's
best time, career best time, or this season's best time. James Zastrow
(12) tried his hand at the 800m while team mate Connor Nolan (12) tried
the 3200m. Both showed good promise in their debut efforts as these
distances. Sophomore Kevin Docherty rounded out the distance corps with a
person best 3200m in 10:01.4. Like the Raider girls the Raider boys
have many new faces which are starting to show some promise.

Girls: CDH Whole Meet Team Scores | Boys: CDH Whole Meet Team Scores Comments: Given
a chance good things will happen... The weather was against us, most
every other event was cancelled, but we made it through 19 events. As
you know finishing the meet is not the big story, but what happened
along the way to the finish. (Like most things today was about the
journey and not the destination.) Along the way freshman Megan Linder
ran for the sprinting trifecta winning the 100m, 200m (third best CDH
Soph/Frosh all time best) , and 400m (breaking the 30 year school record
which was 59.30). Molly Strong (12) ran against the best in the state
in the 100m Hurdles and placed a close second. Anne Schletty (12) made
her outdoor season jumping debut finishing third in the triple jump.
This also marked the first joint, boys and girls meet of the season for
the Raiders. On the boys' side Max Gardner (11) won the long and triple
jumps, to sweep the horizontal jumps for the Raiders. He and Kendrick
Brewster (11) placed well in the 100m and 200m dashes as well. Maconel
James(11) stepped up in the shot put clearing the 41' mark and placing
third over all for the Raiders. Kevin Docherty(10) continues to lead the
Raider distance corps placing second in the 1600m to the class A 2010
Cross Country Champion. In the 3200m event all three of the Raiders made
great strides and negative split their race. All three runners came in
below their previous best times by an average of 30 seconds. Both the
boys' and the girls' teams saw some good things in the field and on the
track over the course of the meet. This was just one of many stops along
the journey to June.

Boys | Girls Whole Meet Photos | VideoComments: What
started out as a beautiful sunny Spring day in Minnesota ended up as a
cool cloudy day with a nice head wind down the back stretch. But that
did not stop us from putting out our best efforts. Competing in the
shadows behind the visiting team bleachers Brian Linehan (12) and Jack
McMahn (10) set new personal records in the pole vault. Each athlete
cleared 10' and made good attempts at 10' 6". McMahon's vault landed him
in the top five all time Raider sophomore vaulters at number five.
McMahon also cleared 5' 8" in the high jump (tied for 5th all time best
Sophomore jump) for the first time which placed him third in that event.
Max Gardner (11) set a career best long jump of 21' 1". Following
Gardner's example freshman Alex Kunzer jumped 19' 9" earning him the
number 5 all time best freshman and sophomore Raider long jump. In the
Girls' Long Jump Anne Schletty approached her life time best with her
15' 5" effort last night earning her third in that event for the
Raiders. She also placed fourth in the Triple Jump and sixth in the High
Jump. Continuing her winning ways Megan Linder took home first place in
the 100m, 200m, and 400m. Senior Cameron Perra finished second in the
300m hurdles as he returns to form running a time of 43.12. For the
distance Kevin Docherty (10) finished first in the 1600m and second in
the 800m turning in the top time for a Raider boy at that distance so
far this season. In the 3200m the top Raider boy and girl ran much of
their races in between packs. But both were driven to do their best.
Laura Modl not having run that distance yet this season finished in a
time of 13:20.55 putting her six seconds faster than her best time of
2010. Dan Zastrow came on in the second half of his race after leaving
one pack and trying to bridge the gap to the next pack and finished 29
seconds ahead of his last finish at this distance in a time of 11:16.29

Visitation Results:Girls | Boys Whole Meet Comments:
Finally the weather cooperated with us. What a gorgeous evening for a
track and field meet. Day two of the Catholic High School Invitational
saw the varsity teams take to the field and the track. The press was
there early on to see the boys' high jump and Benilde-St. Margret's
jumper Tevor Yodoni who cleared 7' and made attempts as the state
record, 7' 1 1/4". For the Raiders there were many good things
happening. All of which added up to a second place team finish for the
boys. Molly Strong (12) started the Raiders off with a first place
finish in the 100m hurdles. Megan Linder (9) continued her 400m winning
streak edging out a runner from Providence Academy and breaking her
school record in a time of 58.72 seconds. Heather Sawchuck (9) high
jumped 4' 4" for the Raiders for a new personal best and fourth place.
Delaney Dobbs (11) vaulted 8' 6" tying her school record. Julia Knippel
(12) gave the 1600m another go to run a 5:25.85 and bring home 5th for
Raiders. Laura Modl (11) continues to drop time in the 3200m this time
breaking the 13 minute barrier and finishing in a time of 12:57.61. For
the boys Max Gardner (11) lead the sprinters by winning the 100m in
11.55 seconds. Gardner also won the long jump with a personal best tying
jump of 21' 1" and place third in the triple jump. James Zastrow (12)
dropped time in the 400m to take third place in a time of 54.82. In the
1600m Kevin Docherty (10) took second in a charge to the finish dropping
his time to 4:38.19, a 5 second personal best. Following Dochery and
Modl's strong races the Raider boys' 3200m racers did not want to
disappoint, and they didn't. All three of them dropped time off their
personal bests. Leading the way was Dan Zastrow (10) in a time of
11:05.32, which earned him seventh place. Team mates Jake McDermott (9)
and Jake Krukowski (10) finished in 11:12.16 and 11:13.60 respectively.
Each dropped over 30 seconds. But the 4 x 400m was the true star of the
show for the Raiders. For the girls Linder anchored the team of Strong,
Molly Johnston (9), Kiah Selmer (11), and Linder, upon receiving the
baton Linder bolted a head of two runner and charged to the shoulder of a
third fighting down the home stretch. For the boys, again it was the
anchor runner Kevin Jenkin (12) who stole the show. This was Jenkin's
debut at the 400m distance and he did not disappoint. Like Linder,
Jenkins pushed from the beginning and never let up chasing down as many
of the other teams as he could using all his strength and guts to get to
the finish. There were many other good performances by Raiders in this
meet. Check out the results above to see how we did.

It was a steamy evening at Mounds View High School's Bob Stewart Field
when teams gathered for the True Team Section Meet. There were
improvements made by the Raider team. Notably in the girls' 400m dash,
Megan Linder (9) continues to drop her school record and win the event.
Linder won the event in 57.60 seconds. She also won the 200m in 26.21
seconds, placed second in the 100m (13.05), and took fourth in the long
Jump (15' 10"). Julia Knippel (12) placed third in the 800m after making
a "bold move", according to the announcer, on the back stretch with
250m to go. Knippel ran a time of 2:26.98. For the boys' team Kevin
Docherty(10) broke the 10 minute mark in the 3200m earning him first in

Comments: Wet and cool morning
turned into a windy, wet, and cool afternoon as the Raiders competed.
The weather did not deter the Raiders from toe the line and running,
jumping, or throwing their best. This was the first meet of the year
where sprinters, jumpers, and throwers needed to earn their way to the
finals. Hurdlers Molly Strong (12), Cameron Perra (12), and Antonio
Erskin (12) all qualified for finals in the 100m Hurdles and 110m
hurdles respectively. Strong won the 100m hurdles in a time of 16.36
seconds. In the 110m hurdles Perra placed second with a time of 15.81, a
new PR. While Erskin placed eighth in a time of 17.05, improving on his
time from prelims and setting a new PR. Not to be out done the 100m
dashers, Megan Linder (9), Max Gardner (11), Kendrick Brewster (11), and
Blake Banham (9) also all qualified for finals. Linder's race came down
to a photo finish that put her just .003 behind the winner in a time of
12.87, a PR for her. Brewster finished fourth (11.75 - PR), Gardner
sixth (11.91), and Banham eighth (12.23 - PR). Gardner and Brewster also
qualified for finals in the long jump finishing fourth and fifth
respectively. Anne Schletty (12) qualified for finals in the long and
triple jumps, finishing seventh and second. Gardner also qualified for
finals in the triple jump and placed third. In the throws Maconel James
(11) went on to finals and placed sixth in that event. All other events
were finals in themselves. In the 1600m Kevin Docherty (10) placed
second in a good race to the finish. After taking a meet away from the
3200m Dan Zastrow (10) returned to the event to break his PR and the 11
minute mark finishing in a time of 10:58.21 and place seventh. Jay Defor
(10) also returned to the 3200m and dropped his PR by 17 seconds
finishing in a time of 11:03.28. Check out the links above to find out

Fantastic efforts by both athletes allowed them to place well in the
Minnesota State Meet Finals. Molly Strong (12) finished fourth overall
in the 100m Hurdles running in lane 9. Megan Linder (9) ran in lane 2
and placed 8th overall in the 400m dash. This was Strong's second
appearance at the State Meet and Linder's first. Both athletes had an
