Cretin-Derham Hall Scholarships

Placement Test Scholars Award

All students who take their placement test at Cretin-Derham Hall and score a national cumulative of 90% or higher will receive a $2,500 scholarship for their 9th grade year. There is no application for this scholarship.  Placement Test Date for Class of 2023:  January 19, 2019 at 8:30 a.m.  No RSVP required.

Carondelet and Lasallian Scholarships

The Cretin-Derham Hall Carondelet and Lasallian Scholarships honor incoming students who exemplify the values of faith, leadership, and service.

The award of $2,500 will be applied to 9th grade tuition and is renewable for all four years. The scholarship is independent of any tuition assistance awarded to the family.

There are three requirements to complete the application:

  1. Students submit a completed Application for Enrollment to CDH.
  2. Students submit a scholarship application and essay by February 1.
  3. Students request a Principal/Teacher Endorsement by providing a link to a short questionnaire. The Principal/Teacher deadline is February 1, and must be received for the application to be processed.


Schaller Raider Brigade Scholarship

These scholarships are awarded annually to promote the value and benefits of JROTC and to encourage participation in the program.

The merit-based awards, ranging from $10,000 to $1000 each year, will be applied to tuition and will be renewable for all four years with good standing * in JROTC. 

The scholarship is independent of any tuition assistance awarded to the family.  There is no expectation of military service following graduation.

There are three requirements to complete the application:

  1. Students submit a completed Application for Enrollment to CDH.
  2. Students enroll in the JROTC program.
  3. Students submit a scholarship application and essay (250 words or less).
  4. Scholarship application is due by February 1.

The Schaller Raider Brigade Scholarship Program has been created by John Schaller ’71, a successful businessman, who credits JROTC as the foundation for his organizational and leadership skills that have propelled him in his career.

To retain the scholarship in subsequent years, student reapply annually showing that they have met the requirements (see Good Standing in JROTC below) and outlining goals (subject of the essay is "What are your goals for participating in JROTC at Cretin-Derham Hall?") for the next school year.

Scholarship recipients will be notified mid-June via mail.

* Good Standing in JROTC

Students must continue to be in good standing in JROTC, as defined by the following:

  • Active involvement in JROTC co-curriculars, for example, earning a varsity letter in one of the teams
  • Three hours of JROTC service per trimester
  • A cumulative GPA of 2.8 with no incomplete assignments
  • A cumulative JROTC GPA of 3.0 with no incomplete assignments
  • Demonstrated leadership at CDH through service, honoring CDH values, following school policies, such as uniform wear, and overall attitude.

Students who do not meet the criteria above will not be eligible to renew. 

Students who did not earn an award the previous year may apply the following year if they meet retention requirements and funding is available.
