AP Physics Goes Viral on Instagram

AP Physics Goes Viral on Instagram

Are you one of more than 11 million viewers of the CDH Instagram post featuring AP Physics' Balsa Towers?  Thats right, ELEVEN MILLION!  Over 256,000 people liked, saved, or shared a reel of our AP Physics classes doing what they do best: testing ideas, solving problems, and working together under pressure.

On Monday January 5, students in Mr. Kaus’ AP Physics class put their engineering skills to the test with a classic challenge - design and build balsa wood towers that could hold the most weight while keeping the structure itself as light as possible. The room was full of focus, anticipation, and nervous excitement as each tower faced its moment of truth.

The video captured more than just collapsing towers and cheers when tower was built to support the weight-it showed curiosity, teamwork, and the kind of hands-on learning that makes science stick. Instagram took notice, and the clip quickly spread far beyond our community.

Thank you to Mr. Kaus and his students for opening up their classroom and giving the world a glimpse of what learning looks like here: challenging, collaborative, and genuinely fun.

If you haven’t seen the video yet - or if you want to see what else is happening around campus - check out the Cretin-Derham Hall Instagram account. And if you’re already a follower, keep an eye out. You never know when your next class might be internet-famous.
