Fine Arts Week Features Concerts, Exhibitions, and Hands-On Activities

Cretin-Derham Hall celebrated Fine Arts Week on May 11–15, with a series of performances, exhibitions, and student activities celebrating student work in music, theater, and visual arts.

The week featured the annual Fine Arts Festival in the Commons during both Flex periods on May 13. Organized by Fine Arts faculty, the event gave students opportunities to participate in activities such as karaoke, caricature drawing, air-dry clay projects, a photo booth, and an instrument “petting zoo,” where students could try out various instruments.

Fine Arts Week also included multiple concerts and showcases. The spring musical The Little Mermaid concluded its run on May 10. The CDH Art Gallery was open to students and the public May 12–15 in the Black Box Theater. An artist reception and awards ceremony took place May 12, followed by the Band Concert that evening and the Choir Concert on May 14.

At the artist reception, students were recognized for outstanding visual artwork across multiple categories. Award recipients included Norah Ahrendt ’26 (1st place), Luke Hanno ’26 (2nd place), Maria Dyer ’27 (3rd place), and Julian Krieger ’26 (4th place).

Additional honors were presented across disciplines. Winners included Kenzie Steineman ’26 for Senior Photographer, Joe Jeffries ’27 for Excellence in Digital Photography, Abby Roberto ’27 for Excellence in Film Photography, Nola Stevens ’28 for Excellence in Jewelry Making, and Apple Mix ’26 along with Ellyson Henjum ’26, Luke Hanno ’26, and Norah Ahrendt ’26 for Excellence in Ceramics. Anna Penz ’26 and Kaitlyn Themmes ’27 were named Potters of the Year. George Enestvedt ’26 received Excellence in Painting, and Apple Mix ’26 was recognized for Excellence in Mixed Media.

Fine Arts Week concluded with the closing of the Art Gallery on May 15.
