Grandparents Mass Celebrates Faith and Family

Grandparents Mass Celebrates Faith and Family

Grandparents Mass brought students together with their grandparents and other significant senior figures in their lives for a liturgy centered on the theme, “A grandparent’s love is extraordinary.” Celebrated by Fr. Pat Kennedy '69 on April 29, the service highlighted the role these relationships play in shaping students’ lives and strengthening the school community.

Student reflections formed the heart of the Mass. Kaylee Munson '29 spoke about the personal impact of her grandmother, describing her as “such a strong role model… she has shown me right from wrong, good from bad, and strength from weakness.” Her remarks emphasized the lasting influence of guidance passed down through generations.

Andy Brown '26 addressed both classmates and grandparents, encouraging students to be more intentional with their time. “Life is fast and crazy, and you owe it to yourself to slow everything down and enjoy some time with the people who love you the most,” he said. He also acknowledged the quiet support grandparents provide, calling them “a safe, judgment-free space” and among students’ “biggest supporters.”

In his homily, Kennedy reinforced the theme by reflecting on the unique and enduring love of grandparents, connecting it to the broader sense of unity within the school community.

Other moments added to the significance of the liturgy as well. Student musicians led the music despite the early hour, and Olivia Laughlin '26 joined her grandparents in bringing up the gifts.
