New Website and App Launched Strong

Cretin-Derham Hall launched a new communications hub this month, which includes both a new website and a mobile app. 

“Our goal is to not only provide the information our community needs efficiently, but to showcase what makes our school special,” explained Jeb Myers, President.  

The new website offers enhanced functionality and efficiency and a greater ability to share information and stories from the school in an authentic manner. Several highlights include:

• Navigate the whole site by clicking on the MENU (three horizontal lines) in the top right.
• The purple sticky tab on the right - NEWS & EVENTS - takes you right to our Social Media for the latest news on campus plus Upcoming Events where you find promotional information about things coming up.  
• The calendar is the most used element of our website and it is now easy to find on the top of each page.  And the ‘DAY’ AT A GLANCE calendar entry is a one click stop to see all the important information for the school day. 
• An all-new ATHLETICS homepage features a calendar with all upcoming games and, for the first time, the game results!   Each team page provides both game and practice schedules, rosters, and coaches, plus their team social media feed.  Check out Fan Zone/Tickets for ticket links, Raider Rack, Facilities and more!
• Hear straight from the students and parents/guardians themselves! TESTIMONIAL VIDEOS from our students and parents/guardians are viewable on the home page and the Admissions page. 
• And, so much more…

MyCDH App is a Game Changer

For current students, parents, and faculty/staff, perhaps the biggest benefit is the MyCDH App. The app puts the information needed most right in the palm of their hands plus timely alerts (e.g., weather or important updates).

Assistant Principal Amy Bellus ‘90 explained this is a place for all things CDH, “The app is a one-stop-shop for all of the information you need about what is going on at CDH.  No more wondering where you need to look to find information about something!”

On the home screen, the news and calendar are front and center.  In addition, the dock at the bottom makes it easy to find:

Announcements - a live listing of important information, no need to search for an email!
Calendar - easy to navigate calendar information 
Athletics - all upcoming games are listed, but there is a helpful filter so that you can follow select teams rather than the whole schedule if that works better for you.
More - several key resources and logins are listed here for your convenience. 

Download the App

Parents, students and faculty/staff are strongly encouraged to download the MyCDH App on their personal devices!  While all CDH iPads already have the app installed, the value of the information at your fingertips is strongest when the app is installed on their phones.  

For this week before break, students can enter the App - Snap - Win Contest by making sure their parents have downloaded the app. Big prizes are awarded each day before Christmas Day. More information is available on Announcements.

Web and App Development Process

The process to create the new website and app started nearly a year ago, with our constituents (current and prospective parents/guardians, students, faculty/staff and alumni or friends of CDH)  providing critical feedback in a survey last spring.  

Director of Communications, Annie Broos explained that the survey feedback plus an assessment of usage of the old website and the changing needs of our community, the website was designed and built from the ground up. 

“I want to thank our Digital Communications Specialist, Julie Wengelewski, who built this site and the app to meet the unique needs of our community through a strategic balance of efficient information and engaging design, " said Broos.

Broos noted that more updates and features to expand our new communications hub will roll out over the next year!
