2018/2019 School Year Starts Off Strong!
September 12, 2018
The beginning of the school year is full of energy and this year is no exception.
Members of the Link Crew, led by Ms. Nicolle Spears and Mr. Mark McGuire, welcomed new and transfer students on New Student Orientation Day. All students enjoyed a morning of fun activities, community building, and a prayer service where faculty and staff gathered to bless them. After lunch, the new students walked through their course schedule, found their lockers, and became acquainted with the school.
The first day of school saw 1,030 new and returning students enter Cretin-Derham Hall! Administrators were happy to hear the sounds of students and teachers back in the classrooms for a new year.
During the first week of school, we gathered together to celebrate the Opening School Mass in the Joe Mauer Field House. Fr. Patrick Kennedy ’69 delivered a moving sermon about our community of learners. He explained that “we are not only here to learn subjects, but to expand our hearts.”
The first two weeks of school also featured Back to School Night, an invitation for parents to follow their student’s schedule, meet student’s teachers, and receive coursework expectations.
