Cretin-Derham Hall Proud to Announce Partnership with Amerigo Education

October 4, 2017

At Cretin-Derham Hall, we are committed to providing our students with a multi-cultural view of the world in order to truly be able to grow as faithful leaders and change makers in a connected world that seems to grow smaller every day.

We are pleased to announce a wonderful partnership with Amerigo Education that will further enhance our international student program, which is an important aspect of our goal to provide a multi-cultural experience for all our students.

A recent statistic shows that international students comprise approximately 20% of our American colleges and universities.  For our students to be fully prepared in college and later in their career, there is tremendous value in welcoming others into our community who also seek the excellent academics preparation and community spirit so inherent in the CDH experience.

CDH has welcomed international students for more than 17 years; most recently, we have welcomed 11 students who have joined our community from abroad. While having international students is not new to CDH, we believe our partnership with Amerigo is a wonderful match for our mission.  Amerigo is committed to ensuring the highest quality experience for the international student with an impressive combination of a traditional boarding school structure with innovative approaches to language development and cultural immersion.  Amerigo distinguishes their program by managing the whole student experience, not just the recruitment/enrollment of students from outside the U.S.  as is often the case.

The students who join CDH via Amerigo will not be short-term exchange students, rather they will fully join our community and plan to graduate from CDH.  For most students, this will be a four-year experience, just like the experience of a student from our local Catholic and/or public grade schools.

After ensuring that these international students meet our academic and language expectations, as all our incoming student do, these students intend to blend into our community through classwork and participation in co-curricular opportunities. CDH and Amerigo will work together to ensure that these students participate in all school events and activities beyond the classroom so that they can become full community members.

Amerigo, who partners with other top-rated high schools which are geographically spread across the U.S., sought to establish their Twin Cities program with CDH because of our top reputation for both rigorous academics and a solid sense of community founded in a tradition of excellence.

CDH is excited to offer not only a full high school experience to these international students but to provide a foundation for our current students that reflects the changing world of international education and business.

The first students to enroll at CDH via Amerigo are expected in the 2018-2019 school year.
