Letter from the Principal

September 12, 2018

Principal Mona PassmanWelcome Back!

It’s hard to believe that we are already well into the groove of a new school year. It’s almost as though we never left.

There is always something magical about the first day of school. It doesn’t matter how prepared we are as a school, once the students arrive, everything runs like clockwork. Despite what your student may tell you, they are always eager to meet their teachers, see their friends, begin their classes, and join activities.

This year we welcome many new people. We have 16 new faces on our staff, 271 new 9th graders, 20 new international students, and 19 transfer students. We also welcome the parents and guardians of all our new students. Don’t hesitate to reach out to another parent or a staff member if you have any questions. I also encourage you to join our Parents’ Association. The necessary information is located on the Parents’ Association Page of our website.

You will often hear people talk about the strong tradition and legacy of Cretin-Derham Hall. Whether we are returning or new members, we are all part of that legacy. Each one of us becomes an important member of this community the very first time we walk through the school doors. Our tradition and legacy are not stagnant. Our community grows richer with each new student, parent, and staff member. There is a place at the table for each and every one of us.

It was great to see so many of you at Back To School Night last week. I am looking forward to getting to know you and your students. Please stop in and introduce yourself if you are in the building. Enjoy this beautiful fall weather.
