Senior Alexandra Holmen Qualified for Seventh National Championship
April 9, 2018
Cretin-Derham Hall senior Alexandra Holmen, an accomplished gymnast, competes in the Trampoline & Tumbling Program of USA Gymnastics. She has been training year round at Gleason’s Gymnastics School in Eagan for the last eight years and typically trains three to four hours a day, five to six days a week.
This year, over Easter Break, she competed at the Fairland Classic Gymnastics Meet in College Park, Maryland, and her trampoline routines qualified her to the Elite level in USA Gymnastics. Only a small percentage of athletes ever make it to the Elite level.
Alexandra has been a Minnesota State Champion nine times over the years and she has qualified for, and competed at, six National Championships. She and her gymnastics partner won a Regional Championship in synchronized trampoline, and they finished second in this event at the National Championship.
This past weekend, Alexandra competed in the 2018 State Championships, earned first place in two events, and qualified to her seventh National Championships. She still has a few more big meets ahead in the next few months, including the Elite Challenge meet at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, the Regional Championships in Milwaukee, and the National Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Alexandra plans to continue her USA Gymnastics career and compete at the Elite level during her college years at the University of St. Thomas.
