Strategic Planning Continues with Current Focus on Data Gathering

April 10, 2019

The strategic planning process announced at the start of the year is well underway at Cretin-Derham Hall. The process will culminate in a five-year strategic plan to address challenges and leverage opportunities to support our commitment to providing an exceptional, faith-based education.

Strategic planning falls into eight domains: Governance, Catholic Identity, Academics, Student Life, Facilities/Technology, Finance, Marketing/Enrollment, and Advancement/Communications. Each domain has volunteer leadership as well as staff liaisons.

After the kickoff in January, the domains have been immersed in the process of gathering data to inform the analysis of the strengths and challenges. Many constituencies have been invited to participate in surveys focused on Catholic Identity, Academics, Enrollment and Student Life.

The leadership committee of the strategic planning process is grateful for the input from our community members. “The input from our parents and students, as well as faculty and staff, has been critically important for this process,” explained Frank Miley, President. “This is a collaborative process that depends on the feedback we get from a wide range of our community.”

In October, our planning consultants, Partners in Mission will conduct a weekend retreat at CDH to actually draft the plan based on what will be more than nine months of work by the domains. In addition to the strategic planning committee, representatives from the community will be asked to participate in this planning retreat.

The resulting strategic plan will highlight new opportunities and address long-term challenges.   It will be presented to the Board of Directors for approval.
