Strategic Planning Retreat Established Foundation for 5 Year Plan

October 22, 2019

Over the weekend of October 11 and 12, Cretin-Derham Hall completed an important phase of our strategic planning process by bringing 65 stakeholders together for a retreat to draft the goals for our Strategic Plan.

This effort utilized more than a year of work to analytically understand our eight domains (Catholic Identity, Enrollment/Marketing, Academics/Technology, Student Life, Governance, Finance, Facilities, and Advancement/Communications).

The participants in the Strategic Planning retreat included our sponsors, Board members, faculty/staff, alumni and parents.

Our faculty and staff were a significant part of this process. An impactful 43 percent of our strategic planning retreat was made up by our faculty and staff! This was by design because of the value these voices bring to the resulting roadmap for CDH. Their expertise, time and hard work made this step in the planning process work because they brought the insight, passion, and understanding of our mission that comes from being a critical part of our school.

In addition, many alumni and parents, as well as members of CDH leadership boards, were involved. For a full list of participants, click here.

The retreat resulted in significant progress toward our emerging 5-year plan:

  • We defined one or more strategic goals for each domain;
  • We drafted multiple objectives for each goal.

While the goals for the next 5-10 years were the focus for this retreat, the hard work of establishing the strategies/objectives that CDH will put in place to accomplish these goals continues.

In addition, several listening sessions involving a wide variety of constituencies will be held this fall in order to flesh out the plan before finalizing it and taking it to the Board for approval.

Thank you for your prayers and support for this important work.
