School Uniform Policy - Cretin-Derham Hall

A new uniform policy will take effect for the 2026–27 school year. The updated program is simple, affordable, and convenient, with uniforms delivered directly to your home or available through the Raider Rack in limited quantities.

Daily School Uniform For All Students

Neatness, cleanliness, and appropriateness for school are always expected, including during off-campus school activities outside the school day.

Uniform Tops

All tops must be purchased through the BSN Online Store. White t-shirts may be worn under the uniform tops.

Black pants and shorts can be purchased anywhere if they adhere to the uniform guidelines. A black jogger that meets uniform guidelines will be available to purchase from the BSN online store in men’s and women’s sizes.

There is a distinct difference between performance joggers and sweatpants. Joggers are made of stretch-woven material, whereas sweatpants are made of cotton/fleece-type material. Please ask an administrator if you have questions about whether or not your pants meet our guidelines
No leggings, cargo, track, pajama, yoga, wide-leg, flare, denim, capri, or sweatpants (including CDH team-branded cotton sweatpants/joggers) are allowed.

Black dress shorts
- Option for August, September, May, and June only.
- Shorts must fall no more than 3 inches above the knee or have a 7-inch inseam and must not have any visible logos.
- Golf shorts with pockets that meet the length requirement are allowed.
- No other athletic shorts are allowed.

Black shoes in good condition must be worn with the uniform. Shoes should have black as their primary color and any accent color must make up less than 25% of the shoe. Open-toed shoes are not allowed.

Facial Hair Guidelines

Some facial hair is allowed. Facial hair should be clipped using no higher than the #1 setting or 1/8 inch / 3mm guard. Students with facial hair longer than this will be required to clip it to this level at school.

Out of Uniform Days

Occasionally, the administration will designate days when students may be out of uniform. Appropriate dress will be expected.

CDH student ID cards and lanyards must still be worn on out-of-uniform days.
Ragged cut-offs are not allowed
T-shirts must cover the torso and cannot be sleeveless.
Clothing must comply with our civil discourse policy and must not endorse any political candidate.
Images on clothing must be appropriate for school.
No hats or other head coverings are allowed unless they meet a specific out-of-uniform theme.

Students who are inappropriately dressed for school will be asked to change or may be sent home. Borrowed uniform items may be returned or purchased and added to students' tuition.

As a way for students to present a positive and respectful image of themselves, and to prepare students to dress appropriately and professionally;
To create an environment in which students have an opportunity to experience equality, regardless of their backgrounds with an affordable uniform;
To strengthen school spirit and image.

Why are you making these changes?

Where can I purchase uniform items?

Initially, uniform items will be purchased in an online store through BSN. There will be several two-week ordering windows beginning June 1 through the start of the school year. All tops must be purchased through BSN. Black pants/shorts may be purchased anywhere as long as they meet school guidelines. A black jogger that meets uniform guidelines will be available in the BSN online store in men’s and women’s sizes. After school starts, some items will be available in the Raider Rack in small quantities.

What will happen to students who come to school not in proper uniform?

Students who come to school out of uniform or are found to be out of uniform during the school day will have three options:

get into uniform using items from our uniform closet and return them at the end of the day,
get into uniform using items from our uniform closet and keep them (cost will be added to tuition),
go home and get into uniform before returning to school. Students who choose to go home to change may not get credit for work done during class.
