CDH Families Host Irish Students
November 7, 2016
Seventeen young women from Strathearn School in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and two faculty chaperones arrived in St. Paul on October 28 to experience the culture in Minnesota. A key part of their program enables them to live with Cretin-Derham Hall host families.
In addition to experiencing mid-western family life with their host families, the students also enjoyed time at CDH. On November 2, the students spent the day at CDH, attending classes with their host students. Both CDH students and the Strathearn student learn from comparing their school experiences, and the Irish students are often encouraged to participate during classes. Their experiences also included attending a CDH football game and the fall musical, She Loves Me.
Each morning, the young women met in the cafeteria and departed for their day of sightseeing. Their visits to local attractions included the Mall of America, the Science Museum, and the outlet stores. The girls also joined in events and activities planned by their host families. They depart on November 5 after making great friends and good memories during their visit to the U.S.
Thanks so much to the CDH host families and to volunteer parent coordinator, Carla Anderson, who made this experience possible for our students.
