Robotics Team

Overview

Wind Chill 2450 is the robotics team at Cretin-Derham Hall. Wind Chill originally began as “Raider Bots” in 2008 and rebranded to Wind Chill in 2020 to stand out at competitions. Cretin-Derham Hall is a proud member of the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics program. Robotics is more than building robots. What we discover when facing a challenge like building a robot is how to bring all kinds of learners, abilities, and interests together so that the outcome is the best for everyone involved.

  • All skill levels are welcomed and needed. No prior experience needed to join!

    • Marketing skills include expanding our team brand and outreach

    • Computer skills included computer-aided design and programming

    • Building skills include the engineering design process, creative and structural building, mechanical design, and electrical design

  • CDH students have gone on to college engineering programs around the country, and have worked for companies such as Cargill, Microsoft, Best Buy, and others.

Awards

  • In our 2016 season, we received the Gracious Professionalism Award at Eagan High School's build season competition

  • We were one of the top four out of sixty teams to finish in 2020 Grand Forks competition

  • We won the Team Spirit Award at both the Great Northern Regional in Grand Forks, and at the North Star Regional at the University of Minnesota in 2022
