Students test multiple intelligencesCretin-Derham Hall has incorporated Multiple Intelligences (MI) into our curriculum for many years.  Teachers know that providing students with a variety of ways to learn offers the best way to challenge them academically and  help them to be successful.

Multiple Intelligences theory, based on Howard Gardner’s work, suggests that there are other kinds of intelligences than those measured on IQ tests, which assess mainly verbal and mathematical-logical intelligences. The MI theory recognizes musical, naturalist, visual/spatial, bodily/kinesthetic, interpersonal and intrapersonal intelligences.

In keeping with the seven values of CDH, spiritual intelligence is also included in our model.

As part of Cretin-Derham Hall’s school-wide strategic planning process, Multiple Intelligences (MI) continues to be a focus for both our students and our faculty. CDH believes that by gathering information about how each student learns best, faculty members can then develop curriculum and instruction based on that information.

Ninth grade students were tested on either October 6 or 7 in their Values classrooms. Students took the MI inventory and received the results, which showed them their MI strengths and areas to be developed. Students were highly engaged that day in learning more about how they learn best.
