Art Show Highlights Talented Students
May 9, 2018
The annual Cretin-Derham Hall Fine Arts Week is May 7-11. A highlight of the week was the Black Box Gallery Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony that attracted more than 100 visitors on May 8.
Works of art on display included ceramics, photography, jewelry, sculpture, painting, and drawing. For the first time, local artists were invited to view the artwork and determine the top four Excellence in Fine Arts Juror's Awards.
Congratulations to the following students: Katie Mattocks, first place (drawing); Yousha Tighe, second place (drawing); Catherine Gent, third place (photography); and Cecelia Bachman, fourth place (ceramics). Their artwork is included in the slideshow below.
Many thanks and congratulations to all the art students, as well as teachers Nick Giles, Sue Cranston, and Martha Thornton.
