Assistant Swim Coach Receives State-Level Award

Assistant Coach Kate Steineman ‘94 won the Minnesota State High School Swimming and Diving Coaches Association Assistant Coach Dedicated Service Award. This award is given each year to an assistant coach that demonstrates distinguished service, loyalty, and commitment. She also won the Section Assistant Coach of the Year for girls 6AA.
Steineman began her coaching career in 1994 as an Assistant Age Group coach for Star Swim Club. She held various assistant roles within that organization for the next 13 years.
In 1998, Kate had the opportunity to begin coaching at Cretin-Derham Hall as the Assistant Boys Coach alongside her brother, Mike Steineman '92. She has had the honor of continuing to coach with Mike and the rest of the coaching team for the past 19 years.
In 2016, she also joined the Girls team as an Assistant Coach. Steineman was awarded Section Assistant Coach of the Year for the Boys team in 2012 and the Girls team in 2018. She has also been the Treasurer of the MN Swimming and Diving Coaches for the past 10 years.
