Baseball Teams Work Together for World Hunger
April 14, 2016
The CDH Baseball Team challenged the baseball teams at three other Catholic high schools to take their competition beyond the diamond and attack world hunger. Joining CDH at Feed My Starving Children were teams from St. Thomas Academy, Hill Murray and Totino-Grace. The four teams provided 119 volunteers and packed 44,280 meals on Sunday, April 10 in just a few hours.
The impact is significant. Coon Rapids Feed My Starving Children Team Leader, Adam Hanson summed it up, “This effort will feed more than 121 kids one meal a day for an entire year!” He also thanked the four teams for coming out to feed God’s kids and being so respectful doing it. “You have some great kids, and moms, on your teams!”
Led by the “baseball moms,” this effort was not only a chance to feed the hungry, but it was a great team bonding experience. The CDH team enjoyed pizza following the food-packing session. Coach Paul Weinberg hopes that this friendly competition off the field will become an annual event.
