CDH Celebrates Black History Month
January 23, 2019
Cretin-Derham Hall students, faculty and staff gathered today to learn more about Black history. The CDH community enjoyed a special jazz performance and notable stories of those who impacted Black history through music. The assembly featured professional singer, Thomsina Petrus, who was accompanied by a trio of musicians, Tom West on Piano, Kevin Washington on drums, and Ron Evaniuk on bass.
The entertainers channeled the likes of Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald as they intertwined the performance with Black history. Ms. Petrus also invited students to join her in jazz-style scat singing during one number, much to the delight of the crowd.
