EAGLE SCOUT AWARD TO BE PRESENTED
Naya Maurice Kamadi, 18, of Saint Paul, has earned the Eagle Scout Award, the highest advancement rank within the Boy Scouts of America.
Kamadi will be recognized in ceremonies on Friday, January 29th, 6-8pm at the Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church, 1669 Arcade St. N, St. Paul, MN 55106.
A member of Boy Scouts of America, Troop 25, Kamadi is one of approximately 4 percent of all Boy Scouts who attain the Eagle rank, according to Scoutmaster Mark Osweiler. Each candidate must earn at least 21 merit badges and successfully complete a significant service project benefiting his community, faith organization, or school demonstrating leadership to earn his Eagle. Kamadi chose to repair and repaint the garage at the Arlington Hills United Methodist Church (AHUMC) in Maplewood, MN. According to Mr. Dave Froehle representing the board of trustees of AHUMC, everyone was very pleased with Kamadi, his Troop 25, and that this excellent work was very well-done.
He has served as Patrol leader, and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader and received Order of the Arrow status. Kamadi joins other outstanding American citizens who have become Eagle Scouts, among them former President Gerald R. Ford, Jr., astronaut Neil A. Armstrong, cinematographer Steven Spielberg, and the former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates.
Kamadi is a young men’s division member of Soka Gakkai International-USA (SGI), a Nichiren Buddhist organization and is active in JROTC, theater arts, marching band, pep band, and concert band at Cretin-Derham Hall High School, where he is a senior.
He is the son of Patrick Tschida of Saint Paul, and Jane “Zuni” Anguzuzu Migoze of Soy, Kenya.
