CDH Students' History Day Project Chosen for Smithsonian Display
June 19, 2018
Cretin-Derham Hall sophomores Vianca Grassi Cueto, Isabel Basurto Poferl, and Michael Schwantes traveled to the University of Maryland from June 10 to June 15 to compete in National History Day. The students’ project was a group exhibit titled Dolores Huerta: The 1965-70 Delano Grape Strike and Boycott.
The project placed second in the first round; all first-place projects in the initial round advance to the finals and the top ten are determined from that group. While the CDH students’ project did not advance to the final round, it did tie for 11th at Nationals.
The students were invited to display their project at the Smithsonian Museum of American History—the only History Day project from Minnesota chosen for this honor.
