Celebrating a Successful 2025 CDH Fall Sports Season

As the fall season comes to a close, we’re proud to celebrate another outstanding campaign for our Raider student-athletes. This year, CDH sent two teams to the state tournaments — Girls Volleyball and Football — and earned numerous postseason awards and weekly honors.

Our athletes continue to live out our mission: Culture Creates Champions — showing excellence in competition and in the classroom. Before we move into the winter season, let’s look back at some key highlights from the fall.

Girls Tennis

Led by Head Coach Tim Spika, the Raiders earned the #3 seed in sectional play and advanced to the semifinals before falling 4–3 to Holy Angels. The program also saw record participation with 74 athletes this season.

  • All-Conference:Izzy Mattaini ’26, Chloe Cochrane ’26

Boys & Girls Cross Country

Under Coach Chris Babcock, Raiders boys cross country 2025 saw a lot of growth. Our most experienced racers were Joe Steinhoff ’28, Noah Remer ’28, and Caleb Fanning ’28. Steinhoff dropped the most time of the trio, running a full 3:15 seconds faster than he did his 9th grade year. Throughout the season the young men on the team were presented with many different challenges with which they could test themselves. As a whole they were able to learn from mistakes and improve over the course of the twelve week season. Their eyes are already set on the potential of the next season.

Raider girls Cross Country 2025 was led by senior Abby Chestovich ’26, now in her sixth and final season as a Raider runner. Chestovich was supported by classmate Lucy Keating ’26. Together they lead the team to a real potential to qualify for the state meet for the first time in a long time. The team came together for runs throughout the summer before the season started, which really set them up for this possibility. Along the way the team picked up junior May Strom ’27 as a first time cross country racer. Strom raced to the second spot on our team this year. Second year runners Elisa Nobrega '28 and Lorelie Kessel '29 were in the middle of the Raider pack and showed great strength throughout the season. Rounding out the top five was Katie Nobrega '27 also in her second year of racing with the Raiders. While we didn't make the cut for State this year, throughout the season we showed that we have the capability to not only run hard but to race through the finish. Next year we are looking to continue our improvement.

Boys Soccer

Head Coach Russ Turner guided the Raiders to an 11–2–6 record and a trip to the section championship game.

  • All-State:Billy Cornett ’26, Colin Hafenbrack ’28

  • All-Conference: Cornett, Hafenbrack, Will Roedler ’28, Henry Stangler ’27

  • Academic All-State: Cece Larson ’26, Annie Fiedler ’26

Girls Volleyball

Head Coach Erin Horn led CDH to another exceptional season, finishing 23–6, winning the Section 3AAA Championship for the second straight year, and placing 4th at State.

  • All-State: Caroline Banks ’26, Caroline Anetipa ’28

  • Academic All-State: Buri, Taylor Williams ’26, Paige Weiland ’26

  • MSHSL All-Tournment Team:  Caroline Banks ’26

  • Team Award: Silver Academic Award (GPA above 3.7)

Football

Under new Head Coach Kim Royston ’06, the Raiders repeated as Section 4AAAAA Champions and advanced to the MSHSL State Tournament, finishing 7–4 after a close 23–19 loss to Chanhassen.

  • Star Tribune Athletes of the Week: Ja’Dale Thompson ’26, Izaak Johnson ’26

  • All-District: Johnson, Thompson, Dre Frierson-Hollie ’27, Cartier Russell ’27

Girls Swim & Dive

Coach Lisa Thomas’s team had a strong season, earning the Academic Gold Award (team GPA 3.75+).

  • All-Conference: Cora Moore ’27, Josie Johnson ’26

Performance Dance

Under new Head Coach Georgia Ingwell ’17, the CDH Performance Dance Team had an exciting and successful season. The team performed at numerous Raider sporting events, bringing energy and spirit to the sidelines and halftime shows. One of the season highlights was hosting a Youth Dance Clinic, where young dancers learned routines and had the opportunity to perform alongside the team at a CDH Girls Soccer Game — a memorable experience for all involved.
