Community Awards Dinner

Cretin-Derham Hall community celebrated its distinguished award winners at the Saint Paul Hotel on October 3, 2016. Nearly 200 guests attended the event. President Francis M. Miley and Vice President of Advancement Br. Pat Conway, FSC '71 presented the awards.
Michael Campion '66 is the recipient of the St. DeLaSalle Award is presented in memory of the Christian Brothers. The award is presented annually to a distinguished Cretin alumnus in recognition of his outstanding service to his community and to Cretin High School, and his achievements in his ministry, exemplifying the highest and best traditions of Cretin High School.
General Joseph Votel '76 received the Bishop Joseph Cretin Award, given annually to a distinguished Cretin alum in recognition of his outstanding service to his community and to Cretin High School and for his achievements in his profession, exemplifying the highest and best traditions of Cretin High School. General Joseph Votel '76 is the winner this year.
The Eugene and Mary Frey Community Award was awarded to John '51 & Catherine Michel. This award was instituted in 1999 in recognition of the tremendous commitment Eugene '48 and Mary Frost Frey '52 have demonstrated to Cretin-Derham Hall and the larger community. The award is presented to individuals or couples who reflect the mission and values of Cretin-Derham Hall through involvement with the school and other community interests.
The Monsignor Ambrose Hayden Legacy Award was presented to Robert '51 & Carolyn Koemptgen. This award recognizes individuals whose spirit and energy reflect and understand the need to preserve the past and provide for future generations.
