February 10, 2020
Students from CDH's DECA program competed at the annual DECA District competition on January 10 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Saint Paul. More than 20 area schools participated in the competition.
All competitors took a 100-question test on marketing, finance, management, and hospitality concepts and had to perform an impromptu role play around a variety of topics including promotion, selling, customer relations, product management, financial analysis, market planning, and emotional intelligence.
The top six individuals and top twelve teams from each category earned a ticket to the state competition in March. Winners at the state level will compete on the international stage in Nashville, Tennessee, later this year.
Six Raider Business and Accounting students placed in their event, including Sid Veer Bakshi '20, Jack Cipper '20, Cal Johns '20, Thomas Urdahl '20, Peter Countryman '20 and Jack Redpath '20, all in the Financial Literacy Series.
The DECA team was comprised of the following students: Veer Bakshi. Clipper, Johns, Urdahl, Countryman, Redpath as well as Yonathan Yacob '20, Willie Soltis '20, Jack Nei '20, Marcos Rivas '20, Bridget Tierney '20, Paige Peltier '20, Lucy Kulhanek '20, Travis Teeter '20, Josh Garcia '20, Jake Dunham '20, Allison Youtt '21 and Joy Zhou '21.
