Hottinger Hits New Girls Basketball Scoring Record
February 13, 2019
Frannie Hottinger '19 is now the all-time highest scorer from the Cretin-Derham Hall girls basketball team, with a career points total of 1,654 as of February 4, 2019.
She broke the record during the February 4 game against East Ridge, scoring 26 points to push her over Jordyn Alt '14's previous record of 1,641. She's been working towards this goal the entire season, as soon as she realized it was a possibility.
"Coming into CDH, setting the school record wasn’t on my radar, but as my senior year rolled around, I knew it was a major goal of mine," she said.
Hottinger was a member of the All-Conference team during her sophomore and junior years as well as All-State Honorable Mention as a junior. Last year, she was on the All-State tournament team. In addition to excelling on the court, she has been on the Dean’s list each trimester and received the Excel Award for student-athletes and the Christian Brothers award as a sophomore.
She credits basketball with allowing her to make the most of her high school years and hopes other girls will follow her lead as athletes.
"Playing sports has helped me create some of the best friendships and memories and I want younger girls to see this and do the same," she said.
Hottinger has committed to play for Lehigh University next year.
