Nearly one hundred JROTC cadets attended the annual fall encampment to Camp Ripley, near Little Falls, Minnesota over the weekend of October 7-9, 2016. For the last twenty-six years, interested JROTC cadets are encouraged to attend this Minnesota National Guard training facility to participate in a variety of activities. The cadets worked on building key characteristics that JROTC emphasizes which include a focus on leadership and teamwork. The students were separated into groups of ten that were led by seniors. Within these teams, they worked together to succeed in various competitions. Everyone was encouraged to participate in all the events.
The events on Saturday, which were largely organized by seniors, was a busy day with physical training, land navigation, a confidence course, museum tour, prayer service, and dodge ball. All events encouraged the cadets to practice team building skills. Students that participated in the weekend will be awarded the Adventure Training Ribbon. The encampment was a success and carried on the tradition of our JROTC program attending Camp Ripley in the fall.
