Raider Brigade Earns Top Honors During JROTC Accreditation Inspection
May 2, 2025
The JROTC program underwent its Program Accreditation Inspection and Evaluation on April 30 and according to JROTC Senior Army Instructor Joe Scrocca, the cadets rose to the challenge with excellence. “I am proud to report that, as always, the cadets performed superbly today during their JROTC Program Accreditation inspection and evaluation,” said Scrocca. Although the Brigade conducts a formal inspection each year, the program accreditation only occurs every three years. This was one of those years.
The rigorous accreditation process involves a comprehensive evaluation, including a formal “in-ranks” uniform inspection with questions testing cadet knowledge, a regulation drill demonstration, and a color guard performance. Cadets also presented both their Brigade Continuous Improvement Project and a Service Learning Project.
Additionally, cadet portfolios from all grade levels were reviewed, with interviews assessing their mastery of the accredited JROTC curriculum. Instructors were also interviewed and had their teaching portfolios inspected. The evaluation concluded with a meeting with school administrators and a review of the JROTC Unit Report highlighting annual accomplishments such as parades, competitions, co-curricular activities, the Military Ball, and community service.
Scrocca praised the cadets' commitment and professionalism: “The Raider Brigade's pride and preparation were clearly evident as the cadets represented themselves, the JROTC program, and their school with pride and aplomb, once again earning recognition as a national Honor Unit of Distinction.”
This prestigious designation is awarded to only about 10% of JROTC programs across the country. The Raider Brigade has proudly upheld this status since the award's inception 96 years ago.
