Snapshots of Our Past
Excerpt from The Cretinite - 1931 Yearbook.
In 1931, the Orchestra at Cretin High School had about fifty pieces in the organization, and thirty of which were violins. At the beginning of the school year, Fred Rihm was in charge of this activity. Under his direction, a concert was given over the radio in connection with advertising the night football game between Cretin and St. Thomas. This radio broadcast received much favorable comment from the community.
The Cretin Orchestra made a favorable impression at the school functions and school plays and began to make public appearances, as they were frequently called upon to play at outside entertainments.
