Spectrum Students Create Variety Show
December 28, 2020
In most years, the Senior Spectrum students spend a significant amount of time outside of the classroom, volunteering in the community. Under current COVID-19 restrictions, no students were able to leave campus and serve in the community.
Many students volunteer at local nursing homes, which are not able to welcome visitors during the pandemic and feel the loss of the student visits. In an attempt to safely share some Christmas spirit with the residents, David Ek '21 organized a virtual Christmas variety show.
"Our class is full of a lot of talented, willing people that jumped on board right away," he said. "I knew it would be a great way to do something together as seniors that would also provide some entertainment for isolated folks in senior homes."
The variety show was performed, filmed, and edited and then sent to Carondelet Village, Catholic Elder Care, and The Willows.
"We’re hoping that it can provide some entertainment to people that have been without family and music for a long time," Ek said.
