The Stanley Cup Visits CDH

Ryan McDonagh '07 shows off the Stanley Cup to members of the boys hockey team.

Ryan McDonagh '07 brought the Stanley Cup to Cretin-Derham Hall on Saturday, July 31. His team, the Tampa Bay Lightning. won the Cup in both 2020 and 2021.

A public event was held in the Lentsch Forum at CDH, so anyone who wanted could come see the Stanley Cup and get a photo with McDonagh. Later in the afternoon, they moved to the ice rink for a private event with hockey players, alumni, families, and supporters. More than 1000 people attended the two events.

"Ryan is a great representation of the hard work and perseverance that we try to instill in our students," said President Frank Miley. "We're so glad that he chose to bring the Cup to CDH and share his success with our community - it says a lot about the lifelong bonds that people form here. Congratulations again to Ryan and his beautiful family!"
