Successful Fall Season for Clay Target Team
December 21, 2020
The Clay Target team over all placed 4th in the conference for the fall season.
Clay Target shooting includes both trap and skeet shooting. Individual rounds of trap and skeet consist of 25 targets. Scoring is simply tracking the total number of targets broken out of 25. For the High School League competition, each participant has to shoot a total of 10 rounds of 25 targets.
Typically, team scoring consists of a team of 5 shooting a total of 50 rounds of 25 targets; the highest number of broken targets wins. This year, CDH only had 4 members of the fall team, so there was a big disadvantage having one less competitor for total team score. However, the students who did participate showed great talent and promise.
"We had a small, committed group of kids," said coach Jason Naber. "Every one of them focused on getting better and really improved their skills. They are open to taking suggestions from coaching staff and are polishing their techniques to make improvements that work best for them. We have a solid group of kids that have at least another season or two to hone their skills. The future looks great!"
Riley Bray '22 took third place for girls as an individual!
The spring season is typically the larger season for the CDH Clay Target team. Students interested in joining should reach out to coach Jason Naber.
