9th Grade Parent Mass: A Reflection on Being Prepared and Parental Support

October 26, 2023

The 9th Grade Parent Mass was celebrated on October 25 and was officiated by Father Pat Kennedy '69 in the Joe Mauer Field House before school. The overall theme of the Mass was "Be Prepared," and shed light on the significance of parental support in the lives of our students.

The Mass featured student participants Ingrid Kuykendall '27 and Amari Muhammad '27, whose reflections resonated deeply with attendees. Their words touched on the essential role parents play in the lives of their children. They emphasized that parents are always there, offering love, support, and guidance, no matter the circumstances.

Also featured in the Mass were 11 ninth graders who took over all of the music. Delilah Schuster, CDH Choir Director, deserves a shout out for her efforts in organizing these students and helping them prepare. Once again, the Grandparents’ Association was there as well to show their support and serve refreshments.

A long-standing tradition at CDH, the 9th Grade Parent Mass is always a memorable event for those involved. “Ingrid and Muhammad really stole the show with their reflections,” said Mark McGuire, Campus Minister & Religion Teacher. “They were sincere and heartfelt and conveyed how parents really are there for their children through all of the ups and downs and are a constant source of love and support.”
