BEAN (Black Excellence Alumni Network) Gets Off to a Strong Start with Homecoming Tailgate

The Black Excellence Alumni Network (BEAN) is a new Cretin-Derham Hall alumni committee, with the goal to create a strong network for CDH alumni of color.

The BEAN hosted its first Tailgate as part of Homecoming Week! Despite the less than ideal weather conditions, alumni still came out and played corn hole, listened to music and intermingled with one another before the football game began. Attendees were treated to free food, game tickets, music and games.  The Logan's Catfish food truck, owned by a local couple based out of the Rondo neighborhood in St. Paul, provided the fun tailgate meal.

The purpose of this event was to bring together alumni who want to support BEAN and to kick things off for this new network. They are planning to have larger events in the near future.

Kenneth Udoibok '16 is heading up the network and had great things to say about the first tailgate. "This event was a breath of fresh air to see former alumni and others gather in support of all our efforts to strengthen the connections with alumni of color. The food was great, but the company was better!"
