CDH Hosted Asian Pacific Islander Celebration
April 18, 2018
Cretin-Derham Hall hosted its first-ever Asian Pacific Islander Celebration on April 18 (May is Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month).
Ms. Musta Sathe performed a storytelling dance, “Katha,” from the Hindu/Muslim cultures. She also taught the students a dance titled “Into the Woods,” first showing them the dance moves and what they symbolized. Hundreds of CDH students followed along with Ms. Sathe’s hand movements during the performance. Afterward, she received a standing ovation.
The Harding High School Chamber Choir, under the direction of Natalia Romero, includes 30 Hmong students. The choir performed at the celebration, singing traditional Hmong music while wearing traditional Hmong attire.
CDH students shared poetry, stories, and written word pieces during the event.
Thank you to the guests and attendees for a special morning of celebrating friends from all areas of the world.
