Get to Know Phonathon's Leading Caller

February 20, 2017

Sam Rogers '19

The CDH Phonathon is a program made up of Cretin-Derham Hall students whose job it is to thank our supporters, talk about the events and accomplishments of the school, and discuss our on-going need. The support of our alums, parents and friends continues the legacy of academic excellence and community leadership at Cretin-Derham Hall.

Sam Rogers'19, is one of twelve CDH students currently calling our constituents. We sat down with Sam to discuss his role on the team.

CDH: Share with us your thoughts and goals when you started CDH as a 9th grader in the fall of 2015.
Sam: I wanted to make a lot of friends and accomplish new things I've never done before.

CDH: As part of the Phonathon team, what is one goal you have for yourself?
Sam: A goal I have for myself is to raise a lot of money for the students that attend CDH. I am currently the leading caller on the team. With the calls I've made, I have over $20,000 pledged towards the annual fund.

CDH: What does being a part of the Phonathon team mean to you?
Sam: Being part of the Phonathon team is more than just a job. We work long night shifts and we spend a lot of time together, which allows us to get to know each other. As a team, we have friendly competitions and it's like having a second family.

CDH: You are raising money for the school and for deserving CDH students, how does that make you feel?
Sam: It just feels great to be helping students here at CDH!

The CDH Phonathon team calls members of our community from October-May as part of the fundraising efforts of the Advancement Office.  The goal this year is to pledge $125,000. All pledges fulfilled through Phonathon count towards the annual fund. The top callers are rewarded in the spring of every year by going to lunch with the president of the school.
