The Grandparents Association Makes a Difference in Students' Lives

April 9, 2024

The Grandparents Association at Cretin-Derham Hall is on a mission to enrich the lives of students and strengthen the bond between generations. With a focus on service and community, this association offers numerous opportunities for grandparents to get involved and make a meaningful impact.

There are opportunities throughout the year for grandparents to engage directly with students during events like "First Day of School Morning Donuts," "First Day of Exams Morning Donuts," the "9th Grade Parent Mass," "Cocoa with Santa," and distributing Valentine's Day cookies. They also contribute to faculty/staff appreciation days by serving meals, recognizing the hard work and dedication of the faculty and staff at CDH.

Beyond event participation, members of the Grandparents Association can lend their support to the Advancement Office, assisting with various activities aimed at enhancing the school's outreach and fundraising efforts. For those seeking spiritual involvement, the association offers opportunities such as participating in Eucharist Adoration and joining the "Prayer Warriors" group. One very impactful initiative of the Grandparents Association is its scholarship program for students in need. By contributing to this program, grandparents directly support the educational aspirations of their grandchildren and other deserving students, making a tangible difference in their lives.

The association's mission is summed up in this heartfelt statement:

"Thank you to our Grandparents for your legacy of love, wisdom, and sacrifice. We have the pleasure of witnessing these attributes in your grandchildren, and these values are what make Cretin-Derham Hall so special. Over the years we have seen the impact and influence that CDH grandparents have had in the lives of our students. As a way of honoring and serving YOU, we established the CDH Grandparents Association. We are so excited to foster greater connection and involvement with our grandparents. It is our privilege to provide opportunities for you to further impact the lives of your precious grandchildren."

Through their involvement, grandparents have the opportunity to further cultivate these values in their grandchildren and leave a lasting legacy at CDH.

Joining the Grandparents Association at CDH is not just about participating in events; it's about being part of a community dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of students and making intergenerational connections. If you're a grandparent at CDH, consider joining the association today and become a part of something truly special.
