Letter from the Principal - November 2022

November 9, 2022

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students,

The first trimester is coming to an end. Students and teachers are working hard to finish strong. I encourage parents to check Infinite Campus with your students and talk to them about their grades. Your involvement as parents is important to their success.

As we all know, school is more than academics. Our co-curriculars are also transitioning into a new season. Fall sports are wrapping up, while tryouts are beginning for our winter sports. "Signing Day" was celebrated today for student athletes who signed National Letters of Intent. Our Fine Arts are also thriving. In October, our first theater production of the year, Much Ado About Nothing, was performed and A Christmas Carol has now been cast and rehearsals have begun. Choir and Band scheduled their first concerts of the year with performances this week.  We continued to honor our commitment to diversity with our Native American Heritage Celebration on Monday.

Service trips, including one to Guatemala and another to Costa Rica, are in the planning stages.  A summer trip to Spain is also anticipated for some of our advanced Spanish students. Service opportunities, including the field work in our senior religion classes, Habitat for Humanity, Leap Forward for Children, etc. have all resumed.

While it can be hard to slow down and reflect, we are called to live our lives with gratitude during the month of November.

We started the month with our All Saints Day Mass on November 1.  Bishop Williams celebrated this special liturgy with us as we remembered with grateful hearts the saints and souls who came before us.  We continued our celebration and remembrance with our Ofrenda, sponsored by the CDH Spanish Department.

Finally, as we head into Thanksgiving, we recognize with gratitude the gifts we have been given.   I am thankful for all of the traditions, activities and opportunities at our school and for you, our community, for your ongoing interest and engagement.

Happy Thanksgiving,

Mona Passman
