Welcoming Joe Kruse

March 7, 2022

Joe Kruse is a first-year teacher who will be teaching Religion and Values alongside Christina DeVos and Emma Denzen.

Where did you attend college/university and what did you major in?
I earned a bachelor's from the University of Minnesota in American Studies, and then I got a Masters in Theology at St. Catherine University.

Where were you working previously?
I have worked as a community organizer, and I have facilitated youth service experiences through the Appalachia Service Project in Kentucky and through my work as part of the Minneapolis Catholic Worker. Most recently, I was a butcher at The Seward Co-op in Minneapolis.

What classes will you be teaching?
Values and Church History

What do you love about teaching Religion?
I love hearing about students' spiritual lives and talking with them about Catholic Social Teaching.

Why are you excited to be at CDH?
I am excited to be a teacher at a school that is committed to social justice and so engaged in the larger Twin Cities community. I find a high school to be an intrinsically hopeful place - being around young people gives me hope for the future.

What should our community know about you outside of the classroom?
My wife and I have a two-year-old son and a baby on the way (due date this May)!
