Letter from Principal

 Dear Parents/Guardians,

‘Tis the Season!

Students and teachers have transitioned into the new trimester.  Winter athletes have played their first few games or participated in their first matches and meets.  Members from various activities and clubs including Mock Trial, Chess Team, Robotics, Math Team,  Ping Pong, Speech team, etc. have been preparing for events before and after school.   We have also experienced our first big snow fall and snow emergency parking bans of the winter.

While all good high schools experience many of these winter events and activities, we are blessed because  our community proudly celebrates the true meaning of Christmas.

It’s a season of hope as we wait for the birth of our Savior. Together, we pray every day.  We also join together in our Advent Prayer Service, Immaculate Conception Mass and in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  We reach out into the greater community through our Blood Drive and Food and Gift Drives.  We join in sacred Christmas music at our Chorale Christmas Dinner and at our Band Christmas Concert.   We are visually reminded of this season of hope when we look out on the beautiful new manger on Hamline Avenue or walk past one of our Advent Wreaths in the hall.  And even when we come together for less religious celebrations including A Simple Christmas Boutique, Breakfast with Santa or Christmas in the Commons, we recognize that we are in the Holy Presence of God and we love God and the dear neighbor without distinction.

At Cretin-Derham Hall, it truly is the Season!

On behalf of our entire faculty, staff and administration, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas!
