Letter from the Principal

April 11, 2018

Principal Mona PassmanParents and Guardians,

We have returned from our Spring Break, which was also the time we celebrated the holiest time of our liturgical year, Triduum. Now that we are back, our community celebrated Easter together at a beautiful, all-school Mass yesterday. Let me take this opportunity to once again wish you and your families a blessed Easter season.

Easter certainly signals spring (which is particularly helpful given our unseasonably blustery weather this week), but as Catholics and Christians, we know it to be much more. The Paschal Mystery is the foundation of our faith as well as a foundation for the community of Cretin-Derham Hall.

As unique people of God, we experience the resurrection in our own way. We suffer ourselves: the loss of loved ones, the concern for tragedies in the daily news, and especially the struggles from the mental, physical, social, and spiritual challenges we all face. As teachers and parents, we know that teenagers can be particularly affected. As adults, we are called to walk this journey with these young people and teach them about the power of faith. Each day we model our own trust in God and belief in the Paschal Mystery. We show them how the belief in Everlasting Life transforms us. They learn from us how to be an Easter people.

The return from Spring Break also signals the start of many of our favorite spring traditions on campus. We hope to see you on campus - join us at the Taste of CDH, Parent/Teacher Conferences, the always entertaining band and choir concerts, the spring musical, the many spring sports contests and, so much more.

Wishing you a refreshing spring - and green grass to replace this snow!
